Design your own easy-to-fly Delta Kite, and let it fly high! Kits were provided to create Birds, Butterflies, Dragonflies and more!! Mexican Folk Art workshops with Kensington teaching artist Cynthia Fortozo. Clay - El Mensajero Colibrí - Hummingbirds, are known to be messengers and to bring good luck. Printmaking - Talavera - Mexican Tile Inspired by Mexican tiles, known as Talaveras. The floral patterns and vibrant colors of these traditional clay tiles will be made into prints. Local Kensington garden activist, Susan Braverman, co-founder of The GreenWorks Team, leads a planting and gardening workshop focused on herbs and vegetables from around the world. Focused on how to take cuttings and grow plants at home. Each participant takes home two cuttings for their own garden or window-sill. Month-long series of arts events in Kensington, Brooklyn runs from June 1-30, 2021. Partners include Brooklyn Council District 39, The Kensington Stewards, Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts, The Singing Winds, Casa Cultural and Arts & Democracy. Cynthia Fortozo and her community arts organization Casa Cultural brought Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations to the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park from October 31 through November 2, 2020.
